Yorkshire in Bloom
Appleton in Bloom has entered the Villages section of the Yorkshire in Bloom competition since 1993, steadily increasing its position in the rankings each year.

After winning a Gold Award in 2006 Appleton Wiske again entered the Village Section of Yorkshire in Bloom in 2007 and came top!

Britain in Bloom
The village has twice been invited to represent Yorkshire & Humberside in the national Britain in Bloom competition, organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.
